Theatre never slows down in Aberdeen! After a packed February and an even busier March, the city’s vibrant theatre scene continues to thrive across multiple venues. This season brings exciting highlights, including the North-East debut of Gilbert & Sullivan’s final operetta and a seriously seagully parody of Legally Blonde!
Here’s what’s in store for April, May, and June!
April
Established in 1976, Aberdeen’s Gilbert & Sullivan Society are the only group performing the duo’s operas in the North of Scotland. This year, the company is making a North-East debut with “The Grand Duke”. A story of satire, sedition and sausage rolls, and the final operetta made by Gilbert & Sullivan. With only 2 professional Scottish tours in the 19th century, and only 6 previous amateur versions in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ayr since 1905, this latest Aberdeen G&S production is a rare chance for audiences to enjoy this hidden treasure of topsy-turvydom. ‘The Grand Duke’ will be running from the 2-5th April at the Aberdeen Arts Centre.
