Captivate take over the Rose Theatre for 2022 Edinburgh Fringe

Local Theatre Company, Captivate Theatre, has announced their exciting plans to take over The Rose Theatre for Edinburgh’s Festival Fringe 2022.

The local theatre company, led by Sally Lyall, will take the city centre venue over for the festival to continue their aim of celebrating and elevating talent from within the city.

Captivate Theatre has been performing to sell-out crowds at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2012. The move from a school venue to the Famous Spiegel tent in 2014 saw their reputation and audience reach grow considerably and with a sell-out production of the ever-popular Sunshine on Leith exciting times were ahead. Since the heady days in the wonderfully atmospheric Spiegel tent Captivate has made the beautiful Rose Theatre home, as part of the Gilded Balloon’s programme. This year the company are taking the reins and programming the Rose Theatre’s main space from morning until late night. How exciting!

Sally Lyall – Founder, Owner & Artistic Director said, ‘It’s an incredibly exciting, if a little scary, move for us. We have many fantastic shows to suit everybody. Over two hundred local children and adults will be involved on stage, back-stage, front of house, box office and in the bands/orchestras. It will be a fantastic experience for all involved and the audiences. The Rose is a gorgeous venue in the heart of the city with the fantastic Rose Theatre Café and bars to hang out in. We want to create a real buzz about the place and can’t wait to get started.”

Peter Schaufuss, owner of the Rose Theatre said ‘We are so excited to welcome back the renowned and Fringe acclaimed, Edinburgh based Captivate to continue their successful Fringe run from previous years at the Rose Theatre.’

Rosie Graham, actor said, ‘I spent four magical summers at the fringe with Captivate. I was given invaluable opportunities to learn and grow as an aspiring actor, performing dream roles in front of international, sold-out crowds. It’s where I met some of my closest friends and made some of my fondest memories.’ (Actor ITV/PBS Masterpiece Sanditon, Outlander (Starz), Netflix’s School for Good and Evil).
