To all our dear readers,
From all of the team at Theatre Scotland, we wish you a happy new year!
2020 has been a year which no one seen coming. As a new theatre review site, we started off the year with a prosperous and exciting vision on how our first year would unfold, unfortunately it wasn’t to be. When the UK theatre industry shut down in March, we were devastated, much like the rest of the industry. However, from the events we have endured this year one thing has shown throughout, and that is the solidarity that the industry has shown in light of the hardship that has been forced upon us.
From the front of house staff, stage managers, production team to the performers and creative teams, the full industry has been there for one another. As much as critics are seen as a negative force within the theatre industry, at this point in time all we want to do is support our theatres, theatre companies and artists in getting back to doing the job they love.
Here’s to 2021, the year our gorgeous theatres return. Let’s make sure that when they do, we have learned from the events of this year. And from now on, our stages should represent everyone.
Thank you for all the love and support you have shown us throughout this difficult year,
Lewis C. Baird
Editor of Theatre Scotland
