Direct from the West End, Cameron Mackintosh and Disney Theatrical Group are delighted to announce the spectacular full production of the classic multi award-winning musical ‘Mary Poppins’ will embark on a 2024/2025 UK and Ireland tour. The hit stage musical adaptation of the iconic Disney motion picture is stopping off at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre from Wednesday 22nd January till Saturday 15th February 2025. This is the first time the musical has re-visited Scotland’s capital in almost a decade, the last UK Tour played the Festival Theatre back in 2016. Many fans of the hit musical have been hopeful of a new tour since the critically acclaimed revival closed in the West-End back in January 2023. Now we can all rejoice at the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious news of the musicals return, and with some familiar faces!
Hitting the stage in this UK tour, is a duo that none of us expected, in the shape of the two stars of the Australian revival of ‘Mary Poppins’ – Stefanie Jones (Mary Poppins) and Jack Chambers (Bert). The Age hailed Stefanie “a terrific Mary Poppins, who gives an impeccable performance”, and called Jack Chambers “a glorious Bert, with happy feet and a thousand-watt smile.” Therefore, it looks like UK audiences are in for a treat. “Mary has soared triumphantly around the globe and our recent Australian production discovered two of the most delightful Mary and Berts ever – Stefanie Jones and Jack Chambers – whom I’m thrilled to be bringing to the United Kingdom and Ireland to star in this spectacular new National tour.” Said producer and co-creator Cameron MacIntosh on the announcement of the new tour and initial casting. He also added “They are heading a wonderful cast and I’m sure you will find this the most magical production of Mary Poppins ever, practically perfect in every way!”“
