Theatre Scotland is deeply saddened to report the death of iconic stage and screen star, Angela Lansbury. The ‘Beauty and The Beast’ and ‘Murder, She Wrote’ legendary actress passed away peacefully in her Los Angeles home at the age of 96.

Angela Lansbury is an internationally renowned actress for her stellar portrayals on stage and screen, whether it’s gracing the stage in ‘Gypsy’, ‘Sweeney Todd’ or ‘Blythe Spirit’. On-screen she has countless portrayals which are historic in their prominence and unfathomable in the heart, plus sheer talent the late actress graced audiences with, including Jessica Fletcher in ‘Murder, She Wrote’, Mrs Potts in ‘Beauty and The Beast’, Eglantine Price in ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’ and The Balloon Lady in ‘Mary Poppins Returns’. She captured the hearts of multiple generations through her beautiful and iconic portrayals.
