Stage Door Entertainment Announce Cast for ‘Jack & The Beanstalk’ at Portobello Town Hall

Following a hit run last Christmas with ‘Cinderella’ at Portobello Town Hall, Stage Door Entertainment is proud to announce their second pantomime, ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’. This year’s full-scale panto turns up all the dials, with comedy, music and magic, bringing a GIANT family-friendly pantomime to Portobello Town Hall this Christmas.

“A horrid Giant is tormenting the townsfolk of Porty, with the help of his revolting henchwoman – Rubella Fleshcreep. When it seems all hope is lost, can local farm boy Jack McTrott be the hero the town longs for? With the help of his diva cow (Daisy), fabulous Mother (Dame Maggie McTrott), hilarious best pal (Muddles), dear crush (Jill) and… a singing goose… Can Jack beat the Giant?”

The cast for this year’s production sees a lot of familiar faces return to Portobello Town Hall. Ollie Hiemann stars as Jack McTrott; with Amy Campbell as Jill; Leo MacNeill as Daisy the Cow; Andrew Gardiner as Dame Maggie McTrott; Nicola Alexander as Rubella Fleshcreep; Harrison MacNeill as The Giant; Laurie Scott as Muddles; and Aidan O’Brien as Priscilla the Goose.

Jack and the Beanstalk will also feature a troupe of 48 young performers from across the Lothians, who will support our professional cast at each performance.

Theatre Scotland’s very own Lewis C. Baird, returns to write and direct this year’s pantomime following his success with ‘Cinderella’. Tommie Travers returns as Musical Director, with Aidan O’Brien as Choreographer and Sandra Karolak as Production Manager.

Lewis had this to say regarding returning to Porty:

“It is very exciting to be returning to Portobello for Panto this Christmas. Last year’s production of ‘Cinderella’ was so special because of the support the wider community supplied us, and this year we’re coming back with a GIANT production of ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’ as an ode to the people of Porty.

I’ve been writing from the moment the curtain went down last December and I’m very excited for our cast to bring these heroic, fun, hilarious and (of course) villainous characters to life. Be sure to join this UDDERLY fabulous adventure and get your tickets today.”

Stage Door Entertainment has had a busy year producing various shows, including their critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe production of ‘The Steamie’. They have just completed a hugely successful production of ‘Les Misérables – School Edition’ at Portobello Town Hall.

Tommie Travers and Aidan O’Brien had this to say about the company’s second panto:

“After the success of Cinderella last year, we are thrilled to be producing our second pantomime with Portobello Town Hall. We’ve had an amazing year at the venue, producing multiple musicals and concerts, and continuing to provide exciting experiences and opportunities for locals. We would like to thank audiences for their continued support, and hope to continue to provide first class theatre for many years to come. We are looking forward to welcoming the community through our doors, to an adventure of joy, laughter, and festive cheer, and can’t wait to end a successful year with a bit of panto magic!”

Stage Door Entertainment is committed to providing fun-filled pantomime to all in the community. It is our ethos to make sure that the show is both affordable and accessible to all.

‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ runs at Portobello Town Hall from Friday 6th December to Sunday 29th December 2024. Times vary.
