Scotland’s theatre creatives and artists are currently deprived without a platform to perform on. Having said that, people are turning to online platforms and being creative. This gave us at Theatre Scotland an idea, why not let aspiring artists or already existing members of Scotland’s theatre industry use our platform to show our followers their work?
So, we’re opening up a new initiative, Theatre Scotland’s Creative Showcase 2020. We are encouraging all theatre creatives, companies and artists to send in entries of work filmed within covid-19 rules, which they would ordinarily showcase in a theatre. This can be monologues, sections of plays, poetry, musical performances, dance, puppetry or anything that would normally be classed as theatre! They just need to be within 2-10 minutes long.
We will then select the best performances to post on our socials. We will also give each of these performances a professional review. Not only that but our experienced team will also get in contact with you to give some advice on how you can progress your piece of work, in regards to how it could be adapted, they will give you suited Scottish venues, how you could market your performance and refer you to people or companies that may be interested in you.
We ask that all your work is original, that the participants are all over the age of 16 and that you make sure you are filming your performance in strict coordination with covid rules and regulations.
Entries open from today (Tuesday 22nd September 2020) and will close on Tuesday 13th October 2020 at 8pm. All entries must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org with your performance’s name as the email subject. You will not have your email responded to until after entries close on Tuesday 13th October.
The showcase will take place during November with performances being posted on our socials featuring their reviews, with information about the creatives and artists.
