Reuben Kaye is back at the Edinburgh Fringe! ‘The Butch is Back’ is Reuben’s one-man show where he delves into his life through music and comedy in fabulous style. Playing Assembly Checkpoint until 28th August (except 15th, 16th, 22nd & 23rd Aug).
Reuben Kaye is a born performer, his presence alone entices the audience in, wanting to know more and they just cannot get enough of his anecdotes and cheeky humour. The brilliant comedy in this show flows so naturally, Reuben knows when he has the audience in the palm of his hands and happily plays on this. Reuben is also not afraid to talk, sit on or flirt with the audience, making sure that they know they’re part of the show.
The issues facing the world that Reuben explores are done in such a lighthearted way, yet are delivered candidly. Reuben almost holds a mirror up to the audience and then tempts them into escapism, making fun of the issues of this world while agreeing we’re living in an age of unprecedented hell.
When it comes to the music in this cabaret-style production, we see a multitude of styles, genres and tones explored which play out through the beautiful anecdotes that Reuben tells. The music in this production is stunning thanks to Reuben’s exquisite vocals and the accompaniment of his band, which sound spectacular.
Reuben Kaye ‘The Butch is Back’ is a stunning piece of cabaret theatre that features one of the world’s greatest showmen. You do not want to miss this brilliant show.
