A Play, A Pie and A Pint returns to Aberdeen at the Lemon Tree this week with a mini musical; The Worm Who Turned. A clever production involving high drama within the vegetable patches of the Juliet Allotments of Glasgow’s West End. Adulterous husband Ford and his mistress Jane plan to sell the much loved allotments to property developers to start life anew, in greener pastures abroad. Only one person stands in the way, Ford’s green-thumbed wife Margie.
The cast may be small, holding only three-strong, but mighty.
Helen Logan as Margie plays not only with the plot lines for her allotment but drives the plot of this production. Providing much hilarity and audible gasps while she deals with her horrendous B&Q compost and the continuous threats coming her way.
Clare Waugh supplies us with our hopeless mistress; Jane, desperate for Ford’s affection. Her intense characterisation allows us to follow the hapless Jane through heartbreak and betrayal with conviction.
George Drennan as Ford has it coming! Giving us a character thinking with his… aubergine? The self-satisfied fiend is perfectly equipped with endless laughs and muffled snickering until the very end.

April Chamberlain has created a sharp production with some hilarious staging paired with dramatic lighting and sound to provide biting tension while still remaining fiercely funny.
Kim Millar writes a sturdy play, witty dialogue and a playful plot with fantastic twists. Planting solid roots for Chamberlain and the cast to grow on.
Full of your favourite vegetable puns and not so subtle innuendos, from steamy garden-shed shenanigans to the mulchy macabre, The Worm Who Turned holds a lot of laughs and killer moments.
