Part of this years’ PBH Free Fringe, ‘Sofa, So Funny, So Fringe’ is a stand-up compilation show brought to us by the hilarious Leslie Gold and the witty Nick Kirk. This show is fantastic, incredibly smart humour which really bases itself off of the naturalistic mundane, which I personally love. Nick Kirk has some fabulous material, my favourite moment of his set was a rather funny quip about his “daughter”- I shall not say much else- I will leave it for everyone to find out…
Leslie Gold also gave a stellar performance, she had some excellent material about “Lady Pockets” and the unbeatable joys of family gatherings(insert sarcasm). Both of them are absolutely electric at crowd work, they were personable and completely comfortable on stage. There was an immediate ease in them and the audience as they stepped up to the mic, no nervousness, anxiety or dead air. I was laughing non stop and so was most of the audience, they actually interacted with their audience which I always appreciate as it sets the tone for the entire room.
As this is a compilation show there is a new featured comedian every show, on this particular night it was ‘the comedian’s comedian’ Stuart Goldsmith. He was brilliant he took the mick out of the venue but it was all in good jest, he made some fantastic jokes about family, fatherhood and the daily joys of the fringe. All round just a professional at his craft.
This was a stupendous stand-up show and I recommend it to anyone, and its free! Pop yourself down to the kilderkin on the royal mile.
On from the 5th-27th of August.
