The UK tour of Miss Saigon delivered a powerful and visually striking performance at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen this evening. Combining exceptional vocal performances with impressive staging and design, the production proved both emotionally resonant and theatrically spectacular.

From the very first note, the cast demonstrated extraordinary vocal power and control. The singing throughout the evening was simply phenomenal, emotional, and technically flawless. Each principal performer brought depth and nuance to their role, while the chemistry between the leads made the story’s heartbreak feel raw and real. The ensemble deserves special recognition; their energy and precision elevated every crowd scene, creating a vivid and immersive atmosphere that never faltered.

Leading the company, Seann Miley Moore brought commanding presence to the role of the Engineer. Their performance was charismatic and sharply detailed, balancing flamboyance with grit, while delivering consistently strong and controlled vocals throughout.
As Kim, Julianne Pundan offered a deeply moving portrayal. Her vocals were clear, expressive and beautifully sustained, capturing the character’s vulnerability and resilience with sensitivity and emotional depth.

Jack Kane’s Chris was both sincere and vocally assured. He conveyed the character’s internal conflict convincingly, and his duets were delivered with strength and emotional conviction.
In the role of John, Dom Hartley-Harris provided warmth and authority. His rich vocal tone and measured performance added gravitas, particularly in the production’s more reflective moments.

Emily Langham gave a poised and nuanced performance as Ellen, bringing clarity and emotional intelligence to the role. Her delivery was both controlled and heartfelt, adding further dimension to the narrative.
As Thuy, Mikko Juan was intense and imposing, creating palpable tension in his scenes while maintaining strong vocal presence. Thao Therese Nguyen, in the role of Gigi, brought vibrancy and confidence, energising the stage with flair and assurance.
The ensemble cast demonstrated impressive cohesion and stamina, executing complex staging and choreography with precision. Their collective performance contributed significantly to the scale and impact of the production.

Visually, the production was utterly captivating. The set design was both inventive and cinematic, seamlessly transporting the audience from the chaos of wartime Saigon to intimate, deeply personal moments. The transitions were fluid and impressive, with staging that felt dynamic and expansive without ever overshadowing the performances.
The costumes were beautifully detailed and authentic, enhancing both character and setting. Each piece felt thoughtfully designed, contributing to the storytelling while adding striking visual texture to the stage. Combined with the atmospheric lighting-which shifted effortlessly from sultry nightclub hues to stark, dramatic intensity- the production created powerful visual tableaux throughout the evening.

The direction was tight and emotionally intelligent, allowing the story to unfold with clarity and impact. The pacing kept the audience fully engaged, balancing large-scale spectacle with intimate character moments. The orchestra delivered Claude-Michel Schönberg’s magnificent score with richness and precision, underscoring every emotional beat with sweeping power.

Overall, this UK Tour of Miss Saigon is a triumph- musically stunning, visually arresting, and performed by an exceptionally strong cast and ensemble. It is an unforgettable theatrical experience and thoroughly deserving of five stars.
