Alan Cumming has come home to Scotland to perform two nights at Edinburgh International Festival’s Old College Quad outdoor venue with his new show ‘Alan Cumming Is Not Acting His Age’. The performance features hilarious and wholesome anecdotes, with some showstopping musical numbers. True cabaret, fronted by a true showman.
Alan Cumming’s presence alone is a tonic during this performance. The international star entertains the audience with his quirky and outgoing personality, while telling truly engaging and mostly hilarious (though sometimes emotional) anecdotes, in such a casual manner. Then he pauses to dazzle the audience with a variety of sublime musical interludes. Alan’s vocal talent is stunning and very emotive, it’s easy to lose yourself in his performance, it’s very clear why this performer has gone on from being home grown talent to being an international sensation. Notable highlights is his rendition of Adele’s ‘When We Were Young’ and a fabulous Disney melody.
Alan is accompanied by his musical director, Henry Koperski, on piano, Stuart Semple on drums, Su-a Lee on cello and Cameron Jay on trumpet. This quartet supply a superb soundtrack to accompany Alan’s dazzling vocals.
‘Alan Cumming Is Not Acting His Age’ is a stunning cabaret production which features one of Scotland’s finest talents, show stopping musical numbers, engaging anecdotes, which together brings Broadway to Scotland’s Capital.
